Great and serves purpose well. October 12, 2006 cherly marie (washington, dc) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This printer is fantastic and serves its purpose well. It does everything I need with ease. It prints with ease compared to other home printers. It also copies, scans, faxes, and produces photo's. The photo quality is superb for it to be a low cost printer. If the ink is low they photo's may seem a little off but nevertheless, they are almost lab quality prints. I could not be happier despite some bad reviews.

This is user friendly, makes fast and perfect prints.
When my original one broke (after years of use)I only wanted this as a replacement and was lucky enough to find one on amazon.
I would recommend this for every project you would want to do such as scanning, faxing, making greeting cards and beautiful pictures.
if your printer stops working December 8, 2009 Mereditih J. Thibo (lakewood,wa) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Try this: open up the top, behind the ink cartridges you will see a clear strip that looks like tape. Dust if off. Dust off the rest of the printer while you are at it. I did this and it worked like a charm for another 2 years and is still working fine.
Worked for 2 1/2 years April 22, 2008 T. Mullins (Saint Albans, WV) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this printer with a new Dell desktop back in 2005. It was nice to have an all-in-one printer, and I had previously owned an HP all-in-one that ended up dying on me. Anyways, this printer did a good job for 2 1/2 years, then it started having problems feeding paper. There is a wheel on the right side that feeds the paper through, but it quit working. Now, I have to hand feed the paper in, so this is really frustrating when trying to print more than one page. I haven't taken it apart to see if I can fix it, I'm just going to upgrade. After reading some of the other reviews, it seems that this paper feeding issue is a problem with this printer in general.
Also, ink seemed to run out rather quickly, and it was a pain to have to order it through the Dell website. Now, you can buy Dell ink at Staples, which is nice. Ink seemed to only last me about 5-6 weeks, and I didn't think I used it that much. Other than the paper feeding problem and the ink, it did a good job while I had it.
Good Printer. Has printing and ink problems October 9, 2008 Va Jolly (Louisville, KY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Dell 922 all-in-one printer prints a beautiful color picture when you use the high-quality print settings. The pictures it prints with its normal inks are photo-quality. At normal quality and lower, you can see the dots in the print color, which really jars me when I make up posters.
Printing in black and white is fine if what is printed is only black and white. If there are graphics in color that you are printing in black and white, there will be dots visible. I recommend printing color in color, and black and white in black and white for sharpest printing.
The feed has problems in that it will grab more than one page at a time. I've had that happen with only two sheets in the carriage. It seems that having about 5 or more pages in the carriage helps prevent it from grabbing two or more sheets. Sometimes it comes out alright, but sometimes it will shift the paper and part of the print will come out on the next page.
The guide for the page needs to be set as close to the paper as possible to prevent jamming and double-feed. When one sheet is feeding through, I pull up on the rest of the paper in the carriage and let it down again where the paper rests. It seems to prevent double-feeding.
I find myself a slave to this printer: I can't set it and walk away from it. I have to make sure that pages feed through properly.
The standard color ink and black ink do well for all printing. It makes photo-quality prints. I had a special photo ink cartridge, but when I put it in, the printer wouldn't work; it said the ink was running low. I never could get it to work.
To get the quality of print I wanted, I had to select high-quality printing. This runs up the cost of ink use.
Dell ink is not available at the store. It must be ordered online. I don't like being forced to buy something online. I like to be able to deal with companies in person.
